A Scoundrel's Christmas is a free 4-week downloadable Christmas series for 6-10year olds from LifeChurch.TV and is well worth checking out. The overview of the series: Sheriff Rusty Trusty and the folks of Whopperville welcome some new friends into their Old West town. But some Scoundrels are nearby that are not welcome at all! This Christmas series teaches kids that everything we have belongs to God. The program is presented as a video-style interactive experience with large and small group activities, games and plenty of opportunity for kids to get up and move. The program video (message) and a salvation message video are available in HD, DVD, WMV, MOV and ProPresenter formats to download. You will also find other files to download for each week: Experience guides and guidelines for teaching, Parent guides, Series notes for teaching plus Slam It questions, Artwork files, Kids Challenge Cards and even a Materials list. You'll find this Christmas series here.. So.. why is it free? --We are passionate about changed lives and if there is even a chance that some of our creative content is useful to other churches in a effort to reach people for Christ... we are extremely excited about the opportunity to make it all available.-- LifeChurch.tv
Wow! What a week! Our kids' club program concluded for the year with all the excitement of 'One Starry Night' where kids and their families experienced Mary and Joseph's journey to the manger. This was a different style of program from our usual kids' club afternoons, so we were interested to see the reaction of children and families. We included a few additions: Bethlehem passports with stickers and stamps for them to collect at each activity station, and a combined large group session to start the evening off with some carols, a special welcome to all the parents who had joined the evening events, a special Christmas clip of the Christmas story and the opportunity to highlight the family service on the following Sunday. We also concluded the event with a festive buffet-style dinner for everyone. But, it was a terrific night with more kids than we expected turning up and many bringing along their parents. If you haven't checked out this Christmas outreach program, then click here for more information. I've included a short clip below of highlights of our One Starry Night event- kids at various activity stations, leaders dressed for the part in Bethlehem garb and parents getting involved with their children in some of the activities. See below. I'll briefly outline the One Starry Night Sunday morning family service, with the resources and elements we included in my next posting. Just as a quick update on Advent Calendars following our highlight of the Friends and Heroes online advent calendar (here) ... check out the Advent Calendar apps listed in our Family blog here.
