Maybe it's because Mother's Day requires ideas for our kidmin/church focus on Mother's Day as well as planning for my own family. It probably also means thinking of friends or others in my street who may be alone on Mother's Day and asking them along to our church family breakfast. (Our Mother's Day breakfast includes everyone so it's a great opportunity to build community.)
Anyway, if you're like me, you might still appreciate a simple gift idea for Mother's Day, whether it's for the kids to make or for you and your team to make and give to mothers/women on Mother's Day. (Maybe you're using this special event as an opportunity to thank those on your team and need a nice little gift that's easy to create. In which case, use alternate colours and omit the Mother's Day tag.)
Needed supplies:
* cupcake (You can make your own or buy them ready-made if you're really short of time. You could also use muffins for a larger gift.) * gelati cups * prepared fondant |
* round cookie cutter or even an egg ring would work
*almond slivers, berries *clear cellophane bags 20x28cm *ribbon Gift tags - see below (Optional: jam) |
Roll out a small amount of prepared icing fondant. Cut a circle using your cutter or egg ring. Place on the top of your cupcake. (Smearing some jam on the cupcake will help it stick.)
Step 2.
Using 5 or 6 almond slivers, create a small flower in the centre of our fondant circle. Add a berry as the centre of your flower. (Again, a bit of jam might be helpful if it's not sticking well to the fondant.) This idea of an almond and berry daisy is fromLisa Hubbard's photography
Step 3.
Pop the decorated cupcake in a gelati cup. (It protects the decorated cupcake a bit.) Slip the gelati cup with cupcake inside a cellophane bag.
Step 4.
Cut 25-30cm piece of ribbon and secure the top of the cellophane bag with a bow.
Step 5.
Download and cut out the Mother's Day gift tags and attach to the cellophane pack.
